The House GOP released its tax package this week, which they’ll try and pass in the upcoming lame-duck session of Congress, before the new Congress takes office in January. While the bill includes tweaks to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, offers help to disaster victims, and proposes tax breaks for start-ups, there’s one big thing is missing: Funding for the wall.
The bill was released shortly after legislators returned from Thanksgiving recess, and right after a group of migrants rushed the border and got turned away by tear gas.
The need for the wall is at the top of everyone’s minds. That is, everyone but Republicans in Congress, who are apparently set on squandering the last few months of their congressional majority on disaster relief and farm subsidies.
Memo to Republicans in Congress: We voted for the wall and we want it. Now.
